104 Days – Quest to Become a Dual Pilgrim

In 2018, I walked from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela and continued on to Cee on the Camino Ingles. In 2022, I walked from Lisbon to Fatima along the Caminho Portuguese. And in 2023, I hope to walk from Takijiri-oji to Kumano Hongu Taisha along the Nakahechi route of the Kumano Kodo. Though in different nations, all of these trails are part of the UNESCO World Heritage routes. Once I complete the Kumano Kodo, I will be a dual pilgrim which has now had thousands of participants.

There is something special about walking the Camino de Santiago, which is something I talked about a number of times on the Hour of History Podcast. Check out my conversations to learn more. I hope to be able to share similar experiences and stories once I return from the Kumano Kodo.

Phrase of the day: 同行二人, Dōgyō Ninin, “We go together” – taking a pilgrimmage or hike together.
